The original hoses are a weak point with the classic Volkswagen Vanagon. Until 1985, they were made of steel, which was then replaced by plastic.
This switch to plastic was a conscious choice by Volkswagen, but it wasn't perfect yet, even plastic has its problems when cars reach maturity.
To solve this problem once and for all, stainless steel pipes are the best choice, rust is a thing of the past and hardened plastic pipes that break spontaneously are also a thing of the past.
For transport purposes, the supply and return hoses are supplied in two parts, they can be assembled using the fittings supplied. This has the added advantage that the lines are under the car without any tension.
Supplied as a kit to replace both supply and return lines.
