On all Waterboxer (WBX) engines, there is a rubber seal between the cylinder head and the cylinder. If this gasket is not present, leakage occurs, which not only affects engine performance, but can also lead to serious damage. Unfortunately, it is still very common to reuse engine gaskets. This is bad economy, never do this!
These rubber rings have a diameter of 101 mm and a thickness of 1.5 mm, which corresponds to Volkswagen specifications. If you have purchased a set of engine gaskets, you do not need these rings in addition, they are part of the set.
If you are working on an engine overhaul, it is advisable to buy a set of engine gaskets (indicated in the alternatives tab). This gives you virtually all the gaskets and retaining rings you need to get the job done and is much cheaper than buying each gasket or retaining ring separately. You can find more information about this set by clicking on the article number.
