The headlight grills and the radiator grills (only for Volkswagen Buses with water-cooled engine) are attached with spacers and clamping pins or clips.
The headlight grill uses metal clamping pins that are mounted with a screwdriver in equally metal clips. With mounting rubbers around the clamping pins, the assembly is held under slight tension to prevent rattling. Be sure to order these, as the old rubbers will not survive reuse due to their high age.
The radiator grille uses plastic spacers, which are also secured with plastic pins.
Originally, the parkers were screwed into the radiator grill spacers instead of a plastic pin. You can still use this principle instead of the plastic pin, but Volkswagen has abandoned the parker for a reason. With the plastic pin, you get a cleaner finish, it can't rust anymore and the assembly is stronger.
