For a luxurious finished gutter, the Volkswagen Vanagon was factory fitted with black or chrome anodised mouldings/trims. The most luxurious VW Buses were fitted with chrome trims and all other models had a black anodised finish.
The mouldings shown here are black anodised and are intended to be fitted to the A-pillar part of the gutter.
Once oxidation has occurred, it is very difficult to restore them to their original condition. If you have painted them cleanly, the clamping range is usually not what it should be. Replacing them is still the best way to get a brand new end result.
